Charles Ray Hatcher (July 16, 1929 – December 7, 1984) was an American serial killer who was convicted of murdering 16 people, although he claimed to have killed many more. Hatcher was known for his extreme sexual violence against his victims, many of whom were children. He was also diagnosed with schizophrenia and had a history of sexual abuse and violence. Hatcher was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1978 after being convicted of kidnapping and rape, and was later tried and executed for the murder of a 16-year-old girl in Missouri. Hatcher is considered to be one of the most prolific serial killers in American history.
